Artist's Bio:

As I watch more and more of the familiar countryside being gobbled up by urban and suburban expansion, I feel the necessity and power of my work to be growing. I am not only recording what it is we are at risk of losing, but also giving the viewer a calm place to recharge.

Clark grew up in the country outside Denver, Colorado, and at a very early age began sketching the beautiful local landscape. His father gave him a set of fine German pastels saved from his youth, and these launched the artist on his path to becoming a professional pastelist creating landscapes.

After receiving a bachelor's degree in art in the early seventies, Clark moved to Northern California to continue his art education, and with his partner, relocated from the Bay Area to Sonoma County in 1982. This splendid region remains his main inspiration though he often makes painting trips around the country and abroad.

Over the years Clark has studied with some of the best plein air painters, in pastels, oils, and acrylics. He has been designated a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America and a Distinguished Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America.
