Riverbend Riverbend Safe Harbor (study) Safe Harbor (study) A Year of Little Gems What an exciting year it's been! Looking back, there have been many highlights, including quite a few exciting plein-air competitions at home and further afield, many wonderful opportunities to show my work, monthly workshops in my studio and beyond, and a memorable trip to paint the majestic Yosemite National Park. A practice I started last year and continued throughout this year is offering my small, plein-air sketches at very affordable prices. I want everyone to have the chance to own a little "gem" of a painting, and it's been an amazing process to connect with so many new collectors through these small works. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires." - Hedy Lamarr Demo Re-Do One more highlight from 2018... The Pastel Society of the West Coast held their first Sonoma and Napa Counties Regional Meeting at my studio back in October, and they asked me to do a demo. I decided it would be fun to show my fellow artists how older paintings can be re-worked with fresh ideas. I took the "before" painting shown here, popped it out of its frame, and went to work at the meeting. I also put in a session or two later, when I was alone in my studio without the pressure of an audience. I'm quite surprised at the difference between the two stages of the same painting of Martin's Beach. DSC06305 Before... DSC06654 ...and after... Martin's Beach, pastel, 19 x 37 Happy Holidays! As always, I want to express my gratitude to you for your interest in my work . I appreciate your support, and I wish you a very happy holiday and all the best in the new year!
