Events, Workshops, and More! Fallen Leaf Lake Nocturne Fallen Leaf Lake Nocturne, pastel, 16 x 24 You know how Spring seems to suddenly appear in a profusion of color? That's how I feel about my art calendar! There's suddenly an abundance of shows and other events coming up, and I want to make sure you know you're invited to them all. First, I'm incredibly honored to be exhibiting in the California Art Club's 108th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. On view from March 3 to 29, this signature exhibition of contemporary and traditional fine art spotlights more than 300 sculptures and paintings of genres ranging from landscapes and seascapes to figures and still lifes. The exhibiting artists include nationally renowned representational artists who have been active in expanding interest in the California Impressionist heritage. It would be wonderful if you could make it to the opening reception on March 2. And don't forget that I have work in two other California Art Club events , one in San Francisco and one in San Marino. I'm equally pleased to have Dry Creek Fish Ladder included in the Laguna Plein Air Painters' Association's Best of Plein Air 2019 exhibition , on view from March 11 to 25. LPAPA's mission is to promote the plein-air painting tradition that is part of Laguna's legacy, and believe me, this annual exhibition fulfills that mission beautifully. The show opens with a reception on March 16 at the Forest and Ocean Gallery in Laguna Beach. You'll find even more great plein-air paintings--including two of mine, Fog From Coleman Valley Road and Valley Ford Slough--in the online companion exhibition on LPAPA's website. As if that's not enough, I'm honored to be showing with the Pastel Society of the West Coast, where my painting, River Holiday, has won Third Place in the Signature Member/Distinguished Pastelist category of the exhibition. Click here to see this online exhibition. But there's so much more... Dry Creek Fish Ladder Dry Creek Fish Ladder, pastel, 12 x 12 River Holiday River Holiday, pastel, 18 x 14 In between all these shows, I'm also going to be teaching a number of workshops, so please visit my website's workshop page to find more details about them. Another event you'll find listed there is the plein-air mentor paint-out I'm holding on March 2. I'll be doing a demo early in the morning, then we'll have time to paint together, and finally we'll wrap up with a critique session for those who'd like one. Sponsored by the Laguna Plein Air Painters' Association, the mentor paint-out will start at 9 a.m. and go through noon at the Whitewater Nature Preserve. And one last fun thing... I was recently interviewed by Eric Rhoads, publisher of Plein Air Magazine, for a podcast on plein-air painting. Click here and look for Episode 114. Please pass this along to all your friends who love art as much as we do!
