My Summer of Art
Drifting
Drifting, pastel, 15 x 20
Oh, the irony! At the height of summer, I'm already looking ahead to
the fall by participating in "Sonoma County Welcomes Autumn," a
spectacular group show happening now at Petaluma Gallery One
. Please stop by the gallery anytime
through September 7 to get a taste of the beauty of the season ahead.
"There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which
through the summer is not heard or seen..."
- Percy Bysshe Shelley
But wait! Let's not be too hasty in bidding farewell to summer. Over
the past few months, I've been having a fantastic time teaching
plein-air workshops all across California, from north to south, and I'm
so grateful to all the many students who joined me. Along the way, I
created quite a few new plein-air pastel paintings so please click here
if you'd like to continue
enjoying the season of fun by looking at the newest pieces in the
plein-air gems collection, including Late Blossoms, Summer Sycamore,
and Nature Preserve. While you're there, please take a spin around my
website to see what's new!

And since there's still plenty of great plein-air painting weather left
in this season, I'll be participating in the Benicia Plein-Air
Paint-Out on Saturday, August 24. About 40 of us artists will spend the
day painting at locations all around Benicia, and then we'll gather at
the Benicia Plein Air Gallery for the exhibition, sale, and awards
ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m. If you're in the area that day, please plan
to come out and watch me paint, and be sure to meet up with me at the
gallery at 307 First Street in the late afternoon. Click here
for more info on the event. Hope to
see you then!
