Sure, flowers are dandy and chocolates are a decadent treat. However, if you want to show your affection for someone special, give something that will last for years, original art.

This inviting autumn river scene was a delight to paint with sun sparkles dancing across the water. I think pastels are a natural to create reflections in water.

This is a plein air pastel I did last autumn along the California coast above Bodega Bay. You could tell that the barns and massive old trees have stood up to decades of battering from ocean storms.
