Happy Earth Day!
Recently the Pastel Society of the West Coast challenged any interested
members to do a new painting each day for three weeks and post on the
Society's Facebook page. I'd never done anything like this before and
decided to test myself.
This "21n21" was a challenge indeed! Some of my favorites are featured
in this newsletter and on my website on the Earth Day Gems page.

To escape home and take a long-awaited road trip, I recently drove down
to Palm Springs, CA. I was hoping for wildflowers. However, the
temperatures were still low and what I was treated to instead was a
series of spectacular storms over the rugged mountains that surround
this desert oasis. Some of these pastel paintings were done on
location. Others from photos I took.

To see all of the new works, please visit my website page at Earth Day
Gems . Fall in love
with one, or more? As you can see the prices are very reasonable. These
are all unframed and easily sent.
In honor of the 51st anniversary of this important day, for the next
month I'll donate 15% of the sale of any painting to the Sonoma County
Land Trust. There are a good many more gems available further down in
the Paintings section. Contact me for pricing on larger works.

Nocturne
pastel 6 x 12
This was the most fun of all the "21n21" paintings I did. I set up the
shapes before the sun went down and then got back to it as color was
fading from objects and lights were coming on across the valley towards
Santa Rosa.
