Portfolio of Works

Looking through stacks of plein air paintings, demos and sketches, I came across a good many that I'm happy to make available to my friends and collectors at very reasonable prices.

In late spring and early summer, 2022, I took two road trips (yes!) to New Mexico. One for the Plein Air Convention and Expo outside Santa Fe where I was a field painter. In June, I drove back to the Land of Enchantment to attend the International Association of Pastel Societies Convention in Albuquerque. I had a delightful time painting during both stays. Here are the pastel paintings I did.

These are paintings done with soft pastels, both en plein air (on location) and in the studio. Studio works can be from plein air studies or from photographs I've taken.

This is an exciting new series of paintings I’ve created that I call Mitchell Leafscapes. They are oil paintings on canvas or board incorporating copper and aluminum leaf surfaces that add a shimmering glow to the scenes.

These are examples of what I will do when painting your garden. Choose an intimate corner including your favorite feature or a broader view with building or vista in the background.  As I have training in horticulture I’m quite accurate depicting what's growing. I work comfortably in both pastel and oil, so any size commission is possible.

I will safely visit your property, take photos, possibly do a plein air study or two. We decide what you want, how large and what the cost will  be. After a deposit is given, I get to work on the project keeping you regularly informed. Your final payment is due upon your full satisfaction.  I also work with an excellent framer if that's necessary.
