As a plein-air painter, meaning that I paint outside on location, I always hope for good weather when I'm painting but I don't always get it. Regardless of the weather, however, I find beauty in the gloomiest of gray days. They often bring out a harmony of beautiful colors. I did this the first day of Sonoma Plein Air Festival and really wanted to get a morning painting in, whatever the weather.
