On a sunny morning after drenching rains, I headed up into the mountains near Tehachapi, above Bakersfield. Not knowing where to paint, I followed my instinct out onto small dirt roads east of town and found wonderful flower-draped hills. As I finished this pastel plein-air landscape, the next set of storms were already beginning to build.
