I love to paint pastel landscapes of coastal towns from a high viewpoint. It's a great way to capture the contrast of land and water, as well as the sense of endless space. As I was painting, I wondered what the odd formations were in the clouds. Oh! Those are fishing boats way out in the hazy ocean! For an hour or so, I couldn't tell where the water ended and the sky began.
