This is the back side of Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County. This near the coast the last rays of the sun blanket the hills in cool shades of lavender, purple, and blue. I added touches of ochre and salmon to accentuate the contrast of colors in my pastel painting.
This was done from photos I took one evening when I'd finished an on-location scene and had some time before heading back to the car. These fleeting moments are just too hard to capture in the moment.
