This glorious BIG canvas was inspired by a plein air pastel I did in October on the shores of the Russian River in Sonoma County,
Northern California. I loved the way the nearby hills blocked some of the sunshine coming up the river valley allowing a darker, cooler shadow behind rich colors in the autumn trees and shrubs at shore's edge.
