During the Kern County Plein Air Invitational, we were invited to paint at Tejon Ranch. For my second pastel landscape painting of the morning in Tejon Ranch, I headed further up into the hills and found this lovely spot. I noticed the cool purple haze deep in the shady valley, and decided to push this with my pastel color choices to contrast nicely with the warm oranges of the glorious poppies opening on the hillsides above.
